Head Of Finance - Betfair

We are looking for a Head of Finance on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to join the team to be a key member of the Betfair and finance leadership teams.

This role is responsible for business partnering with the key members of the Betfair leadership team and will be instrumental in maximising profit through a combination of strong cost control, revenue analysis, and supporting the business to find opportunities to increase revenues and / or returns.

Flutter Entertainment is a FTSE30 global leader in sports betting and gaming with annual revenues of >£5bn.  It has recently merged with the Stars Group to become the largest online betting and gaming company globally.  Following the merger, the Group is now re-structuring into four divisions. UK&I, International, US and Australia.

The newly formed UK&I division contributes roughly half the revenue and profits of the Group bringing together household names Sky Betting and Gaming, Paddy Power and Betfair.  The UK&I division is itself the size of a FTSE 50-100 business.

How you'll play it

We are forming a new finance function to drive financial strategy, planning, performance, commercial insight and reporting for the UK&I division.

What you will be doing:

  • Key business partner to Betfair leadership team

  • Support the FD and CFO in driving the UK&I division to revenue and EBITDA targets

  • Identification and delivery of costs saving programme: identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency, includes working with closely with the business and procurement teams on procurement projects as well as BAU cost control

  • Leading the finance support on key commercial negotiations across PPB/Flutter for significant third-party suppliers

  • Working with the investor relations team to ensure performance of the Paddy Power online business is communicated accurately for all external reporting requirements

  • Finance SME on safer gambling strategy for Betfair, including coordinating financial impact analysis and advising on key strategic decisions

  • Deliver monthly performance reviews for all areas of responsibility

  • Lead preparation of budgets and forecasts for Betfair

  • Manage the quarterly budget and forecasting cycle, ensuring stakeholders are fully engaged in P&L impact of assumptions and that targets are challenging but achievable

  • Develop close relationships across the wider finance function

  • Keep informed and up to date on regulatory changes and developments across the industry

  • Build, manage and develop team, as well as provide financial leadership across the division

What you'll bring:

  • Qualified accountant with demonstrable experience within fast paced online, digital customer focused businesses

  • Highly numerate with strong financial and analytical skills

  • Proven experience of business partnering and commercial acumen, able to communicate financial performance to senior stakeholders and to simplify complex information

  • Strong communication, influencing, collaboration and relationship building skills across matrix cultures

  • Results oriented, with the ability to take decisions quickly when necessary and the resilience to challenge. Bias to action

  • Experience of managing and developing a team
