Behind the scenes: Working on the Paddy Power Super Sub advert

In late February, a new Paddy Power advert hit our screens - the launch of Super Sub. 

One of the perks of being a Grad at Flutter UK & Ireland, means you get experience across a variety of teams and the chance to work on big projects that our brands are undertaking. In our Commercial Grad Programme, this means the potential to be involved in advert shoots!

Megan Hayes is one such Graduate on our commercial programme, who is currently in her rotation with the Paddy Power Brand Strategy team. Megan has told us a little bit about her experience and even captured some fantastic photos and videos to get you that one bit closer to how it feels to be behind the scenes on a Paddy Power ad shoot!

So Megan, tell us a bit about your role as a Commercial Grad...

Working within the Brand Strategy team has offered me an insight into a role where each day presents unique challenges and tasks. I have had the privilege of contributing to numerous significant projects already in my short time on the team. My responsibilities have varied but my favourite aspect of the role has been working on exciting campaigns and strategies for big events, such as Cheltenham and the Euros.

What was it like to work on the Super Sub advert shoot?

I recently worked on the Super Sub TV ad shoot in London. The shoot was spread over two days across the city, we filmed in Millwall FC and in a theatre in Croydon. 

Being a part of the shoot was an incredible opportunity and allowed me to see the hard work involved in shooting a great TV ad first hand. The attention to detail, importance of time management and the level of prep work ahead of the big day shooting are a few of key details which stood out.

Plus, I got to work with Peter Crouch and Teddy Sheringham for a day, which made the experience even more enjoyable!

How have you found your experience as a grad so far? 

This grad scheme has been a good stepping stone for my career. It has been a great way of easing into corporate roles after college, something I would highly recommend to someone who may be unsure of what their next step is. There are many opportunities to explore different career path options within the two-year programme and it has provided me with an eye-opening experience.

My time with Flutter UK & Ireland has set me up adequately for my future as it has allowed me to network and create a support system that continues to help me to grow both professionally and personally.
